We can’t wait to add these bacon bits to our farm. Ruby and Pearl are coming later this month.
Why we picked Kunekunes:
The Kunekune’s are small domestic pigs from New Zealand. They are hairy with a round compact build, and some have wattles hanging from their lower jaws. Most do not get larger than 220 lbs. Their color ranges from black and white, to ginger, cream, gold-tip, black, brown and tricoloured. Kunekunes are grazing pigs and are able to grow on low inputs, making them an economical pasture pig. Kunekune pork is outstanding and is considered gourmet. As a heritage breed, their meat is RED and deeply marbled, almost like fine steak. Kunekunes are odorless, quiet, and small enough to make them ideal for a small farm.

When they were little 2021

Fast Forward to 2024
The Kunekunes have turned out to be a wonderful breed to have here. We have met some very nice Amish butchers here and we are happy to say that the meat is everything we heard about and better!
We have been breeding and saving 2 piglets from each farrowing to grow out for our freezer. We have also added one new sow and hopefully she will provide more litters.

Some of the amazing meat :
